ABBIE SMITH, M.D.

Dr. Abbie Smith grew up in a small town in Colorado.  She came to Texas when she attended Baylor University and went on to attend the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.  She completed her internship and residency at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Upon graduation she worked as an attending physician with University of Texas Southwestern in the emergency room at Children’s Medical Center.  After 3 years, and on the birth of her second son, she decided she needed a day job and was fortunate enough to join Richardson Pediatric Associates in 2014. Starting in 2016, she has been voted yearly as a Best Doctor in Dallas by her peers in D Magazine.  Dr. Smith is married and has three boys.  She enjoys spending time with her family, exploring Dallas, traveling, and being an active member in her church.  Her oldest has Down syndrome which has given her a special interest in those who have not just Down syndrome but other special needs.  Her husband runs a nonprofit called Hope Story that helps educate the medical community about Down syndrome as well as connects new parents with current families raising a child with Down syndrome.   This has been her dream job and she truly enjoys being a part of the families that she cares for.
